A Road Runs thru' it

It’s an ordinary road,
With shops on both sides
and pavements bursting with people.

But it’s extraordinary,
For what I see is…
Not the teeming millions,
Or the colorful displays,
But you…
Those long walks, longer talks-
Thoughts, images and dreams.

As I move on,
It all comes back to me…
Winter evenings, made cozily warm,
By the cheer in your voice.
Rainy afternoons,
Refreshed by the circle of your arms.
Windy nights,
Made starry by the passion in your eyes.

It’s the road,
That stretches from my heart
To infinity and beyond;
To you…
Who is so far off.
Sometimes I see you;
Standing on the opposite pavement
So close; yet so far off;
Distanced by the snarling traffic
Of time and personal responsibilities.

And yet…
There are lanes and by lanes,
Where we meet,
Quietly without anyone’s knowledge
So desperate; so vulnerable
That I live from
One meeting to another
From one road-
To another

  1. This one's really good. Anyone can see you're taking huge leaps forward with each post - no kidding. The way its going, your writing can only move one way from here - up.

    A thing I've observed as I read and re-read these posts, is that the effect of something well-written amazes the reader moreso when s/he knows the author - that something like this even exists and is felt, beautifully so, by a person who seemingly talks, behaves, acts like any other normal person in everyday life is a revelation like no other.

  3. Robin,
    When the road is from the heart, two ppl can not be on never ending parallel track, they merge at heart, always close.

  4. Hey Jim,
    The story here is of two people who's love is not socially acceptable. Hence they just share "snatched moments" together; for the rest of the time...they just desire each other from the opposite sides of the road

  5. Robin,
    Just different view or argument,
    We make society, Then how can love be restricted if both love from heart?
    The thing matter the most is partner and trust in each other for a bold step taken and after effect of the step.
